Muhurat Deepawali Pooja 2011

Diwali/Deepavali

Diwali / Deepavali, popularly known as the "festival of lights", is an important festival in Hinduism, celebrated for different reasons, occurring between mid-October and mid-November. For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. For Jains, Diwali marks the attainment of Moksha or Nirvana by Mahavira in 527 BC.
Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps (Diya / Deep) filled with Oil/Ghee to signify the triumph of good over evil. During Diwali, all the celebrants wear new clothes and share Sweets and snacks with family members and friends.

Lakshmi puja is performed during Diwali, the festival of lights. According to tradition people would put small Oil/Ghee lamps outside their homes on Diwali and hope Lakshmi will come to bless them.
Goddess Lakshmi/Laxmi is worshipped by those who wish to acquire or to preserve wealth. It is believed that Lakshmi (wealth) goes only to those houses which are clean and where the people are hardworking. She does not visit the places which are unclean/dirty or where the people are lazy.
In the Sri Vaishnava philosophy however, Sri (Lakshmi) is honoured as the "Iswarigm sarva bhootanam" i.e. the Supreme goddess and not just the goddess of wealth. This is an important distinction between Sri Vaishnavism and other materialistic philosophies.
MOST IMPORTANT :- Use Lighting/ Prayers/ Perfumed (Etrr) it Self or own House.

Dhanteras

Dhanteras is the first day of the five-day Diwali Festival as celebrated in parts of north India. The festival, also known as "Dhantrayodashi" or "Dhanvantari Triodasi", falls on the auspicious thirteenth Lunar Day of Krishna Paksh (dark fortnight, Amawasya) in the Hindu Calendar month of Ashwini (October/November).
The Dhanteras means Wealth on Dhanteras, the "Owl" form of Goddes Laxmi is worshiped to provide prosperity and well being.  Dhanteras holds special significance for the business community due to the customary purchases of precious metals on this day.
An interesting story about Dhanteras Festival says that, once, the sixteen year old son of King Hima was doomed to die of a Snake Bite on the fourth day of his Marriage as per his Horoscope. So, on the fourth day of his marriage, his young wife did not allow him to Sleep. She laid out gold ornaments and lots of Silver Coin in a big heap at the entrance of her husband's boudoir and lighted innumerable lamps all over the place.  And she went on telling stories and singing songs. When Yama, the god of Death arrived there in the guise of a Serpent his eyes got blinded by the dazzle of those brilliant lights and he could not enter the Prince's chamber. So he climbed on top of the heap of ornaments and Coins and sat there the whole night listening to the melodious songs. In the morning he quietly went away. Thus the young wife saved her husband from the clutches of death. Since then this day of Dhanteras came to be known as the day of "Yamadeepdaan" and lamps are kept burning throughout the night in reverential Adoration to Yama, the God of Death.
